Mm? [It takes him a moment to remember, then he shrugs idly:] aye, yeah, didn't take long to suss out I was bigger than the other lads back home. Mostly playing, you know.

'S not just size there. You got a knack for it, reckon that's why they shipped you off?

Barrow snorts.

"Nobody shipped me off, mate. I couldn't wait to leave."

[extortionate]

"Hell, you too? Ma used to tell us if we didn't quit it right now, she'd write the Sisters to steal us off."

He spits.

"Sure kept hoping."

This yields a quiet chuckle, and Barrow shakes his head at the mental image: it's easy enough to picture, especially based on what he witnessed in the Crossroads.

"It was either stay and tend the farm, or go off in Andraste's service," he explains, "don't think anything else would've been excuse enough. My sister and her husband took it over, at least.

Married with land. Just filing that one away -

"I got this recurring nightmare that someone shows up here with a shitload of goats," Hands splayed to indicate the size of this caprine problem. "Says, we need Riftwatch on farm duty,"

"Better goats than pigs." Barrow shrugs a shoulder.

"...and better pigs than chickens, truth be told."

[extortionate]

A shudder at the mention of pigs -

"Must be why y'get kids. Smells worse for a bit, but after that it's their problem."
